deu Börner, Rainer Text application/pdf During the course of this work, the fundamental techniques and methods in creating special effects sequences within film and TV-productions are considered. In particular, the use of computer controlled camerarobots so called Motion Control Units is explained. The opportunities that are provided by this technology within the production and the postproduction process and also the requirements and problems involved are exemplified. The necessity of using motion control systems is pointed out relating to the combination of Computer Generates Images with takings of the real world. The subject matter of manipulating cinematic reality by added virtual components is treated critically. All the different techniques and the general difficulties and problems that occur during this creation of a visually photorealistic mergence of both worlds is dealt superficial. The task that motion control systems are performing is illustrated by concrete examples. A matter of interest is represented by the supplementing dependency of production and postproduction produced by the application of motion control techniques.
